Beginning with a core of 18 musicians in 1998, Band of the Hills has grown in size to over 80 members representing diverse backgrounds in our community - teaches, blue and white collar workers, executives, students, retirees and business owners. The common bond among the players is a shared love for making great music. The band celebrated its 10th anniversary the spring of 2008 with concerts at HEB Central Market, the Houston Area Community Music Festival, and at Cedar Park High School for the season closing 10th Anniversary Celebration. In past years the band has entertained crowds at Cedar Park Bull's Eye Bash, the Leander, Salado and Cedar Park Christmas family nights, the Georgetown Red Poppy Festival, the Cedar Park Fourth of July celebration and at an Austin Ice Bats hockey game, as well as at a number of churches and retirement homes in the area.
While Austin has the title "Live Music Capital of the World", Band of the Hills brings the joy of live music to Cedar Park and the surrounding area. We perform traditional varieties of music from marches to classical, show tunes to big band and patriotic to seasonal favorites along with other types of music. Band of the Hills is a member of the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce and a member of the National Association of Concert Bands. There are no auditions for membership in the band. As the playing ability of each member grows, the capability of the ensemble continues to improve and we all learn from each other. We rehearse once a week during the school year at Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park. We provide a fun, social environment for musicians to practice and perform their art. Everyone is welcome to be a member as long as they have an instrument and can perform.
